Abstract

The intensive development of poultry farming is still an important task – the purpose of which is to create an economic base for the country's food security. Quail meat and eggs are leaders among poultry products in terms of amino acids, vitamins and essential trace elements. The unique ratio of proteins, carbohydrates, fats and minerals makes the meat and eggs of this bird ideal for human nutrition. Therefore, further development of quail breeding is an urgent task.

To obtain high results and maximum realization of the genetic potential of poultry, including quails, a necessary condition is scientifically based feeding, provision of energy, nutrients, mineral and biologically active additives in accordance with zootechnical standards. When rearing young poultry, it is important to provide diets with protein balanced in amino acid composition. Traditionally, as protein additives in poultry feeding, feeds of animal origin (fish and meat and bone meal), vegetable cakes and meals (soybean, sunflower, rapeseed), corn gluten and others are used. According to a number of authors, insect biomass, which contains high-quality protein, fats, vitamins, micro- and macroelements, can be an alternative to traditional protein additives.

The article presents the results of studies on the comparative effectiveness of growing Phoenix quails using a feed additive from the biomass of fly larvae Lucilia Caesar and soybean cake. Protein equivalent replacement of soy cake in compound feeds for young quails with flour from the larvae of the Lucilia Caesar fly increases feed consumption, average daily live weight gain by 5.2 %, live weight by 3.9 % by the end of the experiment (P≥0.01), total live weight gain by 5.0 %, reduces feed conversion by 9.1 %.
